Lesson Preparedness
Piano students are expected to have take off their shoes, washed their hands before coming for their lesson. Finger nails should also be kept trimmed and clean to allow playing on finger tips.
We ask that you make every possible effort to have your child here at least five minutes in advance of their lesson time. We cannot run over into the next student’s lesson time if your child is late, and we don’t routinely make-up for “late” time. If you know that you are going to be more than five minutes late you may wish to call and reschedule the lesson.
Please be respectful of the other students having lessons and help keep our waiting area quiet.
We have wireless high-speed internet available – just ask us for the password!
RecitalsWe have two studio recitals (Summer & Winter) throughout year. Our students also participate in different festivals and competitions.
There will be a nominal fee due for recitals that helps pay for the venue, trophies, and gifts for children.
ReschedulingStudents needing to reschedule a lesson should let the teacher know at least a week in advance to ensure a time slot.
CancellationsStudents must cancel lessons by phone or email with at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations are considered excused for illness, family emergency, or severe weather (public school closures). Excused cancellations with sufficient notification will be given a make-up lesson within the month or lesson credit towards the following month. No-shows, or cancellations without sufficient notification will not be given make-up lessons or lesson credits.
The teacher may need to reschedule or cancel a lesson due to illness, family emergency, or performance engagements. In this case, the teacher will provide a make-up lesson within the month or lesson credit towards the following month.
TardinessThe student will contact the teacher by phone if they expect to be late for a scheduled lesson.
If a student arrives after their scheduled lesson time has begun, the teacher will complete the lesson in the remaining portion of the time slot. Additional time for student tardiness is not guaranteed.
Online classesStudents who wish to temporarily stop in-person lessons due to travel or illness may shift their lessons to a virtual setting to ensure progress continues and the timeslot is retained.

I am a happier teacher knowing that I have a studio full of families who are respectful of policies and my time, and my studio families are happy because they know exactly what to expect when they enroll in lessons each year. I call that a win-win!
Sincerely yours,
Studio Owner
